About this project
An editorial archive of executive design
Furnishing the Skies is a small editorial project documenting how the offices of aviation's most influential executives evolved across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries — and how the furniture in those rooms quietly mirrored the industry's ambitions.
Each era page collects the desks, chairs, materials, and rituals that defined its moment. Sources include trade journals, archival photography from Pan Am, TWA, Boeing, and Lockheed corporate records, and contemporary design history.
